I’m guessing Soundwave’s alt mode is Cybertronian, like Megatron in the first film.
Soundwave used to look like this back in the original 80s cartoon:

At least the new Soundwave’s head is vaguely reminiscent of the original G1 design…

My guess is the face belongs to the character “The Fallen,” and his face just happens to look a lot like the Decepticon symbol:

Very Egyptian, pharoah-like, wouldn’t you say?
Michael Bay and company shot scenes at the pyramids in Egypt. I hope this doesn’t turn out to be one of those “The-Transformers-played-a-role-in-the-development-of-ancient-human-civilizations” things, like Alien Vs. Predator.

I suppose it was only a matter of time… Transformers G1 Mighty Muggs!
Here’s a pic of the figures posed with their accessories:

And here’s a pic of the four Generation 1 characters in their original packaging:

I may have to pick these guys up when they come out. Look for them to arrive some time in February 2009.
I love Megatron’s mini Fusion Cannon and the expression Bumblebee’s wearing. Heh.
I wonder why Prime’s missing his “antennae” though; after all, Bumblebee has his “horns.”

Cartoon Network has a brand new Transformers cartoon debuting next spring titled, simply, Transformers: Animated.

As you can see, the Transformers have undergone a bit of a redesign.
