Workout Pointer No. 1

People often come to me with questions about how to stay fit or get back in shape, that sort of thing, and I always do what I can to help them out, offering advice and suggesting ways for them to achieve their fitness goals, whatever they may be.

It’s something I enjoy doing.

So from time to time, I’ll be jotting down useful hints and tips, pointers, and answers to questions that come up frequently. 

One bit of advice I’d like to share with you as you embark (or re-embark, as the case may be) on your journey to improve your level of physical fitness:

Keep an extra set of workout clothes with you at all times.

How NOT To Bench

I enjoy working out. 

I go to the gym maybe four or five times a week, and I try my best to keep in shape.

Beyond that, I’ve been lifting weights for 12 years, and I used to be an ACE (American Council of Exercise) certified personal trainer.  The point being, I know my way around the gym, I also know a thing or two about resistance training, and I speak from experience when I say that good form is crucial when trying to realize any and all fitness goals.

I mention this today because I just saw a guy in the weightroom “benching” 225 lbs. – a very respectable amount of weight, especially for a guy his size – albeit with extraordinarily bad form.
