Transformers: War For Cybertron

April 15th, 2010

Here are two trailers for Transformers: War For Cybertron, undoubtedly the best looking Transformers game to date, by High Moon Studios:

The game looks mighty impressive so far. Could this finally be the game we Transformers fans have all been waiting for?

Signs are looking good: the pre-Earth character designs are top-notch, and Cybertron itself looks fantastic. Peter Cullen is once again voicing the Autobot’s greatest leader, and there appear to be a lot of nice little touches for fans of the original series, like Optimus wielding an axe and Megatron’s mace (also, fusion cannon!).

Set before the arrival of the Transformers on Earth (as depicted in the original 80’s television and comic book series), War For Cybertron offers both Autobot and Decepticon single player campaigns so you’ll be able to play as many of your G1 favorites, including Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ratchet, Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave, even this guy (if you preorder from GameStop):

Characters are able to transform into their Alt modes at any time and, like their G1 cartoon counterparts, possess unique special abilities (Ratchet, for instance, can heal himself and others).

The game will also have an online multiplayer mode as well.

Transformers:War For Cybertron will be available for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 this June 22nd.

Merantau Trailer

April 9th, 2010

And finally, how in the world did I miss this?

Here’s the trailer for Merantau, an Indonesian martial arts flick starring Iko Uwais, a practitioner of the Indonesian martial art Silat:

Not sure when we’ll see a North American release, but in the UK, the movie, retitled Merantau Warrior will be out on video June 7th.

The action in Merantau looks to be very Tony Jaa-like, although that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It’s nice to see the traditional Indonesian martial art of Silat (specifically, Silat Harimau) getting more exposure internationally, as well.

Here’s a cool behind the scenes look at the fight choreography in Merantau:

Ong Bak 3 Trailer 2

Ong Bak 3 Official Poster

Poster For Ong Bak 3

Here’s the second official trailer for Ong Bak 3 (a word of warning, the trailer begins with a fairly brutal torture scene):

Looks pretty crazy.

Interestingly, it seems Ong Bak 3 will be delving a bit into the supernatural with what appears to be evil spirits possessing the golden-armored main baddie from Ong Bak 2, as well as the already creepy-looking, black-clad “Crow Ghost” (played by Dan Chupong) from the previous entry in the series.

While Ong Bak 2 wasn’t what I had hoped it would be, this new trailer has me pretty excited to see the story’s conclusion.
