My friends and I rented DOA: Dead Or Alive a couple of nights ago, and I have to say, I came away pleasantly surprised.

It was more or less exactly what I expected it to be, i.e. bad, but also kinda fun. 

Don’t get me wrong.  I’m not saying you should go out and rent this movie immediately; it’s not some hidden gem masquerading as a bad movie.  It IS a bad movie, but it’s not nearly as bad as it could’ve been.  It isn’t ”unwatchable bad.”  Video game movies (aside from the first Mortal Kombat) are almost always “unwatchable bad.”

The bottom line: if you’re in the local movie rental place browsing the new releases with your guy friends and can’t decide on what to watch, DOA: Dead Or Alive is a fun, fast-paced action flick (it’s 87 minutes long) with hot babes and some pretty decent, albeit extremely over-the-top, fight scenes.
