Well, the wait’s finally over. There’s a trailer for this summer’s The Incredible Hulk directed by Louis Leterrier and starring Ed Norton as Bruce Banner, the Hulk’s alter-ego.

Not so sure about this one…
The trailer just doesn’t do anything for me. It’s a bit underwhelming really, especially since this is our first look at Marvel’s re-imagining of the Hulk film franchise.
I’m sort of surprised that we haven’t seen more – a teaser trailer, for instance – considering the film comes out on June 13th. Maybe there’s another trailer in the works, one that will hopefully generate a bit more of a positive reaction from fans like me.
I mean, the most recent trailer for Jon Favreau’s Iron Man (May 2nd, baby!) really made me want to see that movie and sooner rather than later. I’ll definitely be there opening night.
Right now, The Incredible Hulk looks more like a rental to me.
Now, I love Ed Norton. He’s a terrific actor, and unlike Eric Bana, who played the role of Bruce Banner in 2003′s Hulk, Ed Norton’s a little closer appearance-wise to the mental image I have of the character.
I was really looking forward to seeing him in the role, but now, after watching the trailer, I’m concerned that Ed Norton’s going to be doing an extended Bill Bixby impersonation the entire film (Bill Bixby starred in The Incredible Hulk television series in the late 70s and early 80s.), the same way Kevin Spacey did a Gene-Hackman-playing-Lex-Luthor impersonation in Superman Returns.
Those two shots in the trailer – you know the ones - are just way too close to the original Hulk television series for comfort.
The next biggest concern I have - I can’t say that I like the look of the Hulk. I feel like I’m watching a cartoon, especially in those final shots of the two creatures running and leaping at one another.
Maybe it would have been better to cast a live actor and use CGI to bulk the actor up to Hulk-sized proportions…
