Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe

sub zero batman Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe

Interesting…

Apparently, Midway and Warner Bros. are teaming up to produce a brand new fighting game featuring characters from the Mortal Kombat video game series alongside comic book superheroes from the DC Universe.

Here’s the trailer:

Batman Vs. Sub-Zero.

Wonder Woman Vs. Kitana.

Superman Vs.

… Shao Khan? Maybe Shang Tsung?

Now, there’ve been some unusual video game team ups in the past:

Street Fighter characters going toe-to-toe with X-Men, Disney cartoon characters embarking on epic quests alongside popular Final Fantasy characters past and present, Darth Vader and Yoda making guest appearances in the latest Soul Calibur

I wonder what’s next.

Any ideas out there for truly outlandish/cool team-ups?  Leave me a comment.

You know, with that Heroes graphic novel published by DC, I wonder if they’d ever consider a comic book matchup between the DCU’s superheroes and the heroes of Heroes?

First Look At Scarlett From The Upcoming Live-Action G. I. Joe Movie

Not bad actually.

Pretty cool pic.  Cool pose.  Crossbow.  Nice, form-fitting costume.

Now that she’s got the red hair, I’m having a much easier time picturing actress Rachel Nichols in the role of Scarlett.

It’s hard to tell since Nichols is facing off to the side, but the costume she’s wearing seems fairly close to the traditional, iconic look of the popular female Joe character pictured below:

… well, except for the color scheme.

Admittedly, the orange and purple-ish hues shown in the pic above might not work terribly well, or even at all, in this slightly more realistic, live-action take on the character but having seen a pic of fellow Joe team member Snake Eyes in full costume earlier (Here’s a link.  And another one.), I’m a bit concerned that the Joes might all end up looking vaguely the same.  You know, all dressed in black, X-Men-movie-like costumes.

I suppose we’ll have to wait and see as more pics become available…

Squishables

April 11th, 2008

So here’s a link to a site I stumbled upon the other day (I think I got it from the Andrew Bell site; click here for more on his groovy artwork and a link to his site).  They’ve got these really great stuffed animals for sale.

They’re called squishables.

The site informs us, “They’re giant, round, fuzzy, stuffed animals.  Hug them.”

This one’s my favorite:

Awwww.

They’re really big too.  A lot bigger than you’d expect.  (About 14 inches tall as a matter of fact.)

Fun stuff.

Chinese Lightsaber Duel

April 9th, 2008

This one’s just for fun…

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

Oh, how I wish actual lightsaber battles were choreographed with half the cool moves you see here.

My favorite lightsaber sequence in all of Star Wars has to be Episode I’s final battle between Darth Maul, Obi-Wan, and Qui-Gon.

Second runner up would have to be seeing Yoda fight in Episode 2.  Although I still wish they had let Anakin do a bit more with two lightsabers…

It’s a shame Episode 3‘s climactic battle didn’t quite live up to my fanboy expectations.

Ah, well, maybe the upcoming Star Wars live-action television series will have snazzier choreography for guys like me…

Rickrolling Along

April 9th, 2008

Like many unsuspecting web users, I got “rickrolled” this past April Fools’.

rickroll Rickrolling Along (I got this super-sweet Rick Astley icon for free from stockicons.com)

For those of you unfamiliar with this utterly ridiculous yet undeniably hilarious internet phenomenon, it goes something like this:

You’re surfing along, minding your own business, reading a comment somebody’s posted with a link that sounds interesting.

You click on the link expecting to go to, say, some sweet new pics from the soon-to-be-released Iron Man movie,…

but instead you’re taken to a video clip of Rick Astley’s 1987 hit song “Never Gonna Give You Up.”

And there you have it.

Rickrolled.

It happens to me more often than I care to admit.  The silly thing is, I actually like the song.

(Bonus points if you can name the title to Rick Astley’s other hit song from the 80s… leave a comment.)

Oh, and here’s the actual link to stockicons.com.
